The man beat his girlfriend to death with a baseball bat

A Texan woman was beaten to death with a baseball bat early Sunday after a fight with her boyfriend, according to Houston police.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition and died at the hospital. The boyfriend – who, according to the police, confessed to being beaten with the murdered woman – was arrested.

Family members identified the victim as Charlene Cadwell, 60 years old. The police identified the boyfriend as Paul Ramirez.

KPRC reports that Ramirez has been charged with murder.

Investigators said the couple had been dating for two years. Parents have called the relationship "toxic".

Family members told ABC 13 that the couple had been fighting all day before the incident occurred around 3 am in the east of Houston.

Ramirez reportedly used a metal pole to break into the window of Cadwell's room before pursuing it and hitting it with a baseball bat.
