Since an armed man killed 17 students and teachers at school last February during one of the worst shootings in US history, students paid tribute to the victims by staging protests in the United States.
On Friday, they faced the South Broward Bulldogs and beat them 23-6. The final score was 17 points, according to articles published on the social networks of the football team.
"It's the 17 angels," offensive midfielder Brian Smith said Friday at the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "They were watching us."
When the Eagles entered the field of the school, it was the number 17 that bound them all along.
The Eagles wore new helmets with "17" on the side and the same "17" was painted on the school's distinctive logo in the middle of the field.
