Nobody won the $ 667 million Mega Millions record draw on Tuesday night, earning $ 868 million on Friday.

There were, however, nine tickets sold across the country that matched five numbers, but not the Mega Ball. One was sold in New Jersey, and two others were purchased in Pennsylvania. Lottery officials in both states are expected to reveal the stores that sold those lucky tickets later on Wednesday.

Tuesday's winning numbers were 3, 45, 49, 61 and 69. The drawn Mega Ball was 9 and the mega was 5x.

Friday's jackpot will be the second largest in the history of the US lottery, surpassed only by the record $ 1.5864 billion divided by ticket holders in California, Florida and Tennessee for the draw from January 13, 2016.

The cash option on Friday night will be worth at least $ 494 million.

The biggest Mega Millions jackpot ticket – $ 656 million – was split by ticket holders in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland following the draw of March 30, 2012.
