Although the Wolverines have an experience and personal advantage, it is not certain they will cover the gap with a Nebraska club looking for an outstanding performance under the guidance of the freshman coach Scott Frost.
Frost gained national fame for his restoration project at UCF, where he took the Knights from No Win to Unbeaten in two seasons. He hopes to replicate the feat at his alma mater, but the Cornhuskers (0-2) are on a tough start. Nebraska fell to Troy, 24-19, last week as a 10-point home favorite, but there were some positives. The Cornhuskers rebounded after a 17-0 deficit to qualify for a fourth-quarter match. The Trojans needed a late defensive position to seal the win.
Quarterback backup Andrew Bunch played reasonably well replacing Adrian Martinez. The group had 177 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Martinez suffered a knee injury against Colorado, but should be available against the Wolverines.
