Willie Cauley-Stein scored 25 points to help the Sacramento Kings win a 121-110 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves visiting Friday night.
Iman Shumpert scored 17 points, De'Aaron Fox 16 points and 10 assists, and Buddy Hield 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings. Nemanja Bjelica scored 14 points against her former team.
Karl-Anthony Towns set highs for the season with 39 points and 19 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who made a trip from 0 to 5 on the road. Derrick Rose added 21 points and Jimmy Butler scored 13 for Minnesota, who lost all eight games on the road.
The Timberwolves were only 7 out of 25 in the 3 point range and shot a total of 41.5%. Sacramento scored 45.3% of his attempts, including 12 of 32 behind the back.
Minnesota followed shortly after 14 after Hield of Sacramento buried a 3-pointer with 6.27 left.
But Rose tied two points at 3, Tyus Jones converted a three-point game and Anthony Tolliver toppled a 3-pointer to shoot the Timberwolves in 108-106 at 4:31.
The Kings responded with baskets of Kosta Koufos and Fox, as well as a 3-pointer from Hield to take a 115-106 advantage with 2:01 to go.
The Cauley-Stein dunk, with 35.8 seconds left, leaves a margin of nine points to allow Sacramento to get by.
The Kings were led by two at half-time and allowed the Timberwolves to shoot 6 shots out of 23 in the third quarter.
Minnesota led 80-77 after Rose's basket with 4: 1 to go before Bjelica scored the Kings' next eight points with two 3-pointers and an inside basket to score at 88-79.
Marvin Bagley III scored the final quarterback points with 25.2 seconds to give Sacramento a 92-81 lead.
The Hield's dunk gave the Kings a 100-85 lead with 9:06 to go.
The cities had 29 points on 11 shots out of 17 in the first half, but Minnesota led 63-61.
Sacramento took his first lead of the evening at 39-36 on Yogi Ferrell's three-point play with 8:42 to play in the half.
