Although Tesla shareholders did not seem to like Elon Musk's interview with Joe Rogan on Thursday night (judging by a 10% dip in Tesla shares on Friday), the internet could not not have enough.

Musk spent two and a half hours on "The Joe Rogan Experience", discussing everything from flamethrowers to the end of the universe. You can watch the interview here.

Despite the back and forth overflowing, most viewers seemed to focus on a particular moment: Musk taking a whiff of what Rogan claimed to be a marijuana joint. Note: It is legal to consume marijuana for recreational purposes in California, where the interview took place.

A Twitter user called the millennium equivalent moment of the lunar landing. Another said that smoking was such a powerful image that she "broke the simulation".


"This man is a hero," proclaimed @DavidThaGoat.


Others were more cynical. "No one has ever made smoking less cool than Elon Musk," tweeted Linette Lopez.

At-Large recoding editor Kara Swisher described the stuntman as a misstep. "They have to ask a CEO, obviously a visionary, to concentrate and stop doing all these antics like writing emails or smoking marijuana on a podcast," she said. CNBC. "It's great for us in the media, but it's not really good for shareholders."

Tesla shares fell 10% to $ 252.25 on Friday morning, the same week that two Tesla executives announced their departure from the company.

Musk, in the interview, noted: "It's quite difficult to run businesses, especially automakers.It's very hard to keep a car company alive."
