In August, we reported that Donald Glover and Rihanna were working on Something together in Cuba, possibly with a frequent contributor to Glover (and It's America director) Hiro Murai. It was one of those things where the fan pages we had never heard of had become big, making them more trustworthy even though their veracity was impossible to prove, the general consensus being that Murai was leading Glover and Rihanna in a movie that may or may not have been called Island guava. As we noted at the time, it was quite possible that the rumors of the fans were totally false and they were just spending time in Cuba.
Now, even though there have been some Island guavamovement, we still do not believe it's a real thing. Over the weekend, Glover organized its PHAROS festival in New Zealand and presented a trailer to Island guava this apparently confirms that it is both a movie and a real movie, and although the trailer has not yet been released, there is a version filmed by fans on social networks.
There are a handful of interesting things in this trailer (Letitia Wright!), But we wish to emphasize the fact that the film is presented as a "Childish Gambino movie", which connects it to the musical artist character of Glover, which implies to us that it is related to Glover's musical career and not to his acting career. Anyway, all we know about the movie is due to leaks. We will have a better idea of all this when / if the film is announced / published.
