A television reporter in South Minnesota might need a new hat saying "Make Me Employed Again".
James Bunner, a multimedia reporter for KTTC-TV in Austin, a member of NBC, was fired Friday for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat while covering Thursday President Trump's rally in Rochester.
At the start of the rally, images of Bunner wearing the bright red hat started appearing on Twitter.
The channel's director of information, Noel Sederstrom, told the Star Tribune of Minneapolis that the station's policy does not allow staff members to wear political campaign clothes when they cover stories. .
Bunner had posted a video of himself appearing to be celebrating while he was dancing in a newsroom on the day of Trump's inauguration.
"I'm looking at the inauguration of Trump," he wrote in the description.
Sederstrom told BuzzFeed News that Bunner was fired for wearing the hat at Thursday's rally, not because of the political views posted on his social media pages.
Bunner did not have a phone number listed and did not immediately return a social media message requesting a comment on Friday.
