The new Jack Ryan series was filmed in D.C. – but the CIA analyst has very strange moves

These arrows from Georgetown University, our heroine, a CIA analyst who negotiates clerical work for dangerous field work, pedaling through city streets lined with townhouses? They are the real deal. And when Ryan crosses a sun-stained Potomac, that's not the solution.

This contrasts with some Washington-based Hollywood productions that use other cities, including Richmond, as a substitute. Although the city seems to have more time on the screen lately – the next "Wonder Woman" sequel filmed in Washington and the Virginia Burbs earlier this year.

Our team spotted the star John Krasinski shooting in different locations in Washington last May, so we kept an eye on us. But to capture in the great tradition of the Washingtonians the factual verification of fictional representations of our beautiful city, a montage showing Ryan's bike ride from the Potomac Boat Club, where he finishes his morning training, at the headquarters of the CIA in Langley, in Virginia, is certainly a roundabout. He is first in Georgetown (note the arrows!), Then his road takes him to the Jefferson Memorial, then west on Pennsylvania Avenue (with the Capitol standing on the bottom). I guess he really wants to stay in shape? Or simply admire the landscape?

Not all scenes of "Jack Ryan" were filmed locally for the Amazon series – the production would have been based in Canada, with Morocco playing the role of a large number of Middle Eastern countries, including Yemen, Iraq, Turkey and Syria. And it's not a question of geography, but many local viewers also had a seashell to choose from with another scene in which Ryan makes an appointment at a seafood restaurant in the Washington area. The configuration of the table is strange: there is a Doungeness crab (not blue!) In front of each dinner with a box of Old Bay just sitting on the side of the table covered with paper (what's up)? they are supposed to do with that?).

And the technique is totally wrong – Ryan encourages his appointment, which is not schooled in the dissection of the crab, to simply take a shot at the center of the shell. "As you think," he says. That's not how it works, Jack.
