The New York Times corrected an article on Friday that, he said, created an "unfair impression" that UN ambassador Nikki Haley spent more than $ 50,000 on new curtains at his official residence in New York. York.
The original story indicated that the State Department had paid "$ 52,701" for "custom and mechanized curtains for the bay windows of Nikki R. Haley's official residence."
The problem, however, was that the story mentioned several paragraphs later, the lavish spending was commissioned before Haley was appointed in early 2017.
"A spokeswoman for Haley said the curtain purchase projects were completed in 2016, during the Obama administration. Ms. Haley has no say in the purchase, he said, "the Times noted in its story.

In a rare editor's note added at the top of the story, the newspaper wrote: "An earlier version of this article and the title created an unfair impression on who was responsible for the purchase in question.
"While Nikki R. Haley is the current ambassador to the United Nations, the decision to rent the ambassador's residence and buy the curtains was taken during the Obama administration, according to current and former officials."
The note from the editor continued: "The article should not have focused on Ms. Haley, nor has a photo of it been used. The article and title have been changed to reflect these concerns and the photo has been removed.

Shortly after the release Thursday night, the story and its first title – "View of New York, Nikki Haley, is priceless. His curtains? $ 52,701 "- has been widely distributed.
Many leftists have seen this as another example of lavish expenditure in taxpayer dollars by another Trump administration official.
