A Minneapolis babysitter was sentenced to 10 years of probation for attempting to kill an infant at home by hanging her on a noose

Nataliia Karia, age 43, was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to attempted third degree murder and assault. She also pled guilty to a criminal road operation for striking a pedestrian, a cyclist and another driver while she was fleeing her house in a van in November 2016.

According to Star Tribune, Karia must undergo treatment ordered by the court and will be under electronic surveillance for at least two months.

According to the complaint, a father was laying his son home when Karia led him to the basement, where he saw the toddler hanging on a noose. He released the child and escaped with him. The 16-month-old boy survived.
