SUBANG JAYA: A strong police presence restored calm in the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and the surrounding areas of the USJ25, Putra Heights, where two hours of riots took place early today.

Nearly 18 cars were burned in the fray, triggered by a fight between two rival groups following the removal of the centenary temple.

The crowds that gathered on the temple grounds scattered from noon today.

The authorities closed a road leading to the temple, which led to massive congestion this morning – but the traffic police are now helping to facilitate vehicle traffic in the area.

Until now, the police have arrested two men in their thirties to facilitate their investigation of the disturbance that began around 2 am today.
