ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) – Oakland Raiders midfielder Marshawn Lynch took part in the national anthem before the opening of the season.

Lynch refused to run for the national anthem before a game against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Lynch also sits for the anthem all last season but has never given any reason for his decision.

No other player from either team demonstrated at the anthem. Only a handful of players took action to protest police brutality and social injustice in America during the opening weekend.

The league and the players' union have not yet announced a policy for this season regarding the national anthem after the league had initially ordered everyone to be sidelined when the Star-Spangled banner was played. or stayed in the locker room.
