The Rams placed cornerback Aqib Talib on the injured list and promoted cornerback Dominique Hatfield from the training squad.

Talib suffered an ankle injury that will require surgery during the 35-23 win over the Chargers on Sunday. According to head coach Sean McVay, Talib will be operated on Thursday to repair his ankle.

Being placed on an injured reserve, Talib will be absent for at least eight weeks. McVay, however, said the club was waiting for Talib to return at some point this season. This would make Talib eligible to return just in time for the last month of the year.

The Rams are allowed to nominate two players to return from the injured reserve. All-Pro recruiter Pharoh Cooper seems to be another candidate to come back from the IR at some point this season.

After suffering a calf crisis on Sunday, cornerback Marcus Peters is considered an everyday player and will probably be the decision of Thursday's game against the Vikings. Cornerback Sam Shields, Nickell Robey-Coleman and Troy Hill are expected to receive significant play time this week.

As a member of the corresponding team, Los Angeles also promoted cornerback Dominique Hatfield from the team to the active alignment training. Hatfield played 11 games last season, recording three defensive tackles.
