The rap song by LeBron James and Kevin Durant was finally released, and here's a review

Basketball and music go hand in hand, and nothing makes this more true than the song Kevin Durant and LeBron James recorded years ago, which hit the airwaves on Friday afternoon.

In an interview with VICE NOISEY with Franky Wahoo, former producer and Machine Gun engineer Kelly, it was only Durant who entered the Spider Studios in Cleveland during the NBA lockout season in 2011.

"But then LeBron James finally appeared and then Kevin Durant had instruments he'd already written on," said Wahoo. "At this point, I was just a bit like 'Oh Shit'."

The track, titled It is not easyis a candid take by two of the best basketball players on the face of the earth, as they detail the ups and downs to get to the top of the NBA food chain. It was published on Soundcloud, says Wahoo, because "the worst thing that can happen is that [James’ agent] Paul would take it.

The song, according to Wahoo, was also almost a background music for NBA 2K19, but "after months of back and forth, nothing about the title materialized."

Here are the words of the song, with the first couplet of Durant and the second and last verse of James

During

"I cut myself, I bleed, dedication
Hard work, sacrifice, meditation
I meditate on the purpose I'm trying to reach
Grinding everything up, and I do not sleep
Come get me, come get me, I'm an animal
Cut into the brain as I am —–
Now I'm growing up, I have a few bucks on me
I spent a semester at school, I was not a scholar,
Who with me? Who with me? [Bleep] guys with me
Shoot with me, stand on you [bleep] like Jamaal Tinsley
I am a [unclear]twice before moving
Relaxin 'in the seats at this Benz is how I move
I have money, but it's the root of all the evil
I stayed the same, but it changes all the wrong people
Yeah, and all the haters anyway
I think the world is Skip Bayless and I'm LeBron James
Look, now I have a body full of tattoos
Everyone says I'm changin ", that's not true
Same guy you met a few years ago
Speak to the heart and you can see beyond the visual
Look, stick to the game and I'm not out of bounds
Maryland on the back and I can wear it when I go out of town
I said Maryland on the back and I can wear it when I go out of town

Instant reaction: Well, it's not terrible. KD from the DMV, and he sort of has this flow to him.

Favorite bar: "I have money, but it's the root of all the bad / I stayed the same, but it changes all the bad people"

DeMar DeRozan recently said he wanted everyone to be rich so that they realize that money is not everything. Durant adds another layer to this feeling, scratching the surface of how his money has changed his surroundings, and probably not in a good way.

Grade: B +

I'm not a rap genius, and I do not act like that, but K.D's verses are not that bad, man. He is frank, talking about his semester at the University of Texas at Benz as he leads to the meditation that helped him get to where he is today. And he a little stayed on pace, right?

I'll take it.

James

It's not easy on the way
But put the world on the back because I'm so strong
Long journey I am from the very beginning
No way I die, with this iron heart
No chance of getting out of it, that's what they said
But look at me, I'm here, [ball, set and spread?]From 602 to 747s
I miss you, grandmother Frieda, R.I.P. in Paradise
Tell me what you want, but leave the family alone
Or call the fools and ask them to refresh the chrome
I love thugs, they ride in my heart
"Because they've been with King James since the very beginning
Parent alone, just moms, daddy left
That's fine, you made the kid strong
You can not stop this kid
Mom mom knew that I was a baby bed star
I had to do it, no other option
Now, nothing in the world
You already know what it is
Now, lemma just spread my wings
As you listen to the voice in this hook, sing:

Instant reaction: LeBron James seems to me to be the kind of guy who could have succeeded in everything he decided to do in life. Except rap. It's not lyrics that are trashy – they're not trashhhhhh. His voice is so deep, it sounds a bit.

Preferred bar: Say what you want 'about me, but leave the family alone / Or call the thugs and ask them to refresh the chrome

Wooo, talk about keeping that same energy. Remember when LaVar Ball tried to say LeBron James Jr. LeBron closed it with speed. The family is clearly what means more to James than anything else.

Grade: C +

There were a few times where James fell from the beat, and this "Iron Heart" bar really put him in the negative early. But LeBron was just as honest as Durant. From talking about growing up with an absent father to his hi to his dead grandmother, you can only truly appreciate when guys are honest about these leads.

Hook

Do you think it's easy? No no no
What I'm going through What I'm going through
Do you think it's easy? Easy? No no.
What I'm going through What I'm going through

Grade: A

The voices on this hook are really good and it's a simple message. It's not easy to be the best in the world, especially not basketball.[[[[Note: If you know who the singer is on this hook, let us know.]

Rappers want to be basketball players and, for some reason, basketball players want to be rappers. It was not the first time Durant was behind the microphone. He also did freestyle on a popular Jay-Z / Kanye West track, "What You Need."

We see it every year with the famous game of stars, and every year it seems like a star of the NBA loose a mixtape. It's a beautiful part of the culture in which we live and it's fun to see some of the greatest of all time open up.

But damn, LeBron, iron heart? I get what you're trying to say, but I have bars for you next time, fam.
