The rattlesnake emerged from Florida water, according to beach lovers

Beach lovers in Florida spotted a rather unusual creature on Tuesday, emerging from the ocean: a diamond rattlesnake.

Photos taken by a local resident, Rhonda Saunders, show the snake emerging from the water on Pensacola Beach.

The snake appeared to be "exhausted" and "trying to keep his head out of the water," Saunders told the Pensacola newspaper, adding that a shocked mob had begun to encircle the creature. We do not know where the snake comes from.

Local animal control officials were called and the snake was eventually removed.
