The Boston Red Sox, World Series champions, returned to Fenway Park with the trophy they had won the day before.
A bus caravan arrived in Fenway late Monday night, less than 24 hours after the Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 and won the World Series in five games, giving the organization its fourth title since 2004.
A few hundred fans and about half a dozen television cameras were waiting for the team.
Fans started applauding when the buses arrived and roared when receiver Christian Vazquez landed the second bus carrying the trophy.
Director Alex Cora got off the first bus and lifted the index to thank the crowd. The players grabbed their luggage and went back into their vehicles – Brock Holt putting the horn on his foot as he left. Many greeted the crowd, but none spoke.
Cora left the park wearing a gray sweatshirt with a balaclava on her head, walking in the street briefly unnoticed before being followed and surrounded by a dozen or so fans. He stopped several times to sign autographs.
He was asked: "What does it make to be world champion?"
"Different," Cora said before moving away.
The city of Boston has planned a parade of Duck Boats for Wednesday.
Steve Pearce hit two home runs and made three points in the time, winning the World Series MVP title.
