The release date of the movie "Downton Abbey" has been unveiled

It's official: the movie Downton Abbey will be released next fall.

A film "Downton" that will reunite the Crawley family on the big screen will be released in the United States on September 20, 2019, Wednesday announced Focus Features. The company says the film will be released internationally a week earlier.

"Since the end of the show, Downton fans have long been waiting for the next chapter of the Crawley family," said Peter Kujawski, chairman of Focus, in a statement.

He added, "We are thrilled to join this incredible group of directors, actors and artisans, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, to bring the world of Downton back to the big screen next September."

Fans can expect to see a lot of familiar faces, including "the original main cast" – including Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Matthew Goode and Michelle Dockery – will be included in the project.

The creator of the series, Julian Fellowes, wrote the screenplay and will also be producer.

In six seasons, "Downton Abbey" has become a worldwide success, airing in at least 150 countries and setting a record for non-US television shows with 69 Emmy nominations.

Brian Percival, who directed the pilot of the series, directs the film.
