To what extent is an offer limited?
That is the question that flooded Starbucks' Twitter account after many annoyed customers were unable to take advantage of the free distribution of reusable cups from the coffee chain on Friday.
Last week, the day before the launch of its annual holiday drink goblets, Starbucks announced that it would be offering for the first time a reusable version of its red holiday tumbler – and that it would give it a number undetermined. free on November 2nd.
The new designs debuted with the release of the chain's popular winter beverage flavors, such as white chocolate mocha, burnt caramel latte, chestnut-flavored latte and chicken pudding latte.
Coffee lovers were initially very happy to be able to get a reusable mug that they could use again and again throughout the season.
But on Friday morning, many coffee drinkers arrived at their local Starbucks stores only to find a vacation package … without a gift. The unexpected amount of gifts has left fans saying "this is hardly" until stocks run out. "
A tweeter could not believe that the cups had already left at 7:05.
And as so many people complained that they could not get goblets (even after calling the store), some tweeted that Starbucks would indicate the number of cups actually included in a limited offer.
Of course, some lucky people (probably very, very early in the morning) had a cup – and they were very excited about it.
For those who have not been able to win a free cup, Starbucks hopes to redeem themselves like the Grinch at Christmas and apologizes directly to some consumers via social media.
A spokesman for the company told TODAY Food that overall, the channel was pleased with the enthusiasm generated by its promotion of the reusable cup. And while its initial announcement indicated that each store had a "limited stock" to donate, the coffee chain will now offer the mug for $ 2.50. Those who buy the cup will also receive the same offer as those who grabbed it for free: 50 cents on a large holiday drink order (ie 16 ounces) until January 7th.
