The Royal Windsor Wedding Was Organized While He Is Preparing For A Second Wedding

In May, Windsor felt like the center of the world as the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took place.

Thousands of people stood behind the gates along the streets the day Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exchanged greetings. The city of Berkshire seemed to attract the attention of about 1.9 billion viewers.

Five months later, a second royal couple became attached: Princess Eugenie and her handsome wine merchant Jack Brooksbank in Windsor.

But having lived so recently one of the events of the decade at its doors, can the small town be revived for the fever of royal weddings?

"The place is not so busy," says Alice Thompson, who lives and works near downtown.

I crossed it on one of Windsor's main arteries, Peascod Street, one of the few places adorned with streamers.

The famous Windsor Castle was surrounded by jubilant crowds, flags and safety gates in May – but now it seems normal.

Gift shops are certainly not part of the merchandise offered by Eugenie and Jack.

"Everyone is a little above," adds Alice. "I do not think anyone in the city is talking about it."

You could argue that they should. The royal family will participate in the wedding and the police estimated that she would spend £ 2 million for security.

"Everyone is finished"

The sense of greatness will not fail. The ceremony will take place in the historic chapel of St George – the same place as for Harry and Meghan – before Eugenie and her new husband go on a procession through the streets of the city.

However, local councilors would have been asked to expect only a modest turnout, compared to 100,000 people earlier this year.

Some local businesses feel that the big event has already passed.

To celebrate the big day of Harry and Meghan, the Three Tuns pub – not far from the castle – was renamed Prince Harry.

"It was really crazy when Harry got married," says owner Kelly Carpenter. "But nobody is really bothered this time, I do not think anyone knows who she is?

"To be honest, it could be a nothing, especially if it's raining."

Ms. Carpenter said that she was not expecting a big day of work on Friday and that she certainly had no plans to rename her pub The Princess Eugenie.

I caught up with two other residents of the Long Walk, where thousands of picnickers waited five months ago to applaud the royal car.

They did not want to give their names but were also scathing.

"I did not even know about it until I read the paper this weekend – and I live in [neighbouring town] Maidenhead, "said one.

"I think we are a little" married, "said another.

Logistics for the day is much simpler than May 19, it seems.

The Windsor and Maidenhead councils simply warned tourists not to forget that parking in the city center could be very busy, while rail operators expect normal service on Fridays.

A glance online will show that hotel rooms are still available in the city. When, for the big day of Harry and Meghan, they were sold at exorbitant prices, while the wedding will be broadcast only by a TV channel, ITV, and will not be broadcast on the BBC. .

Of the 20 people I spoke to in Windsor, only one has expressed a positive opinion about the wedding and they are selling royal themed gifts.

Sam Qadir, head of the King and Queen Gift Shop, located across from Windsor Castle, said waiting for a cargo shipment by Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

"This is inspiring the enthusiasm of many," Qadir said. "Since there is another marriage, we expect many people to visit the city suddenly.

"It will announce the city, make it busy and create a buzz here."

The mugs with a portrait of the pair should do very well, apparently, just like princess brand tea.
