The Russian space company Roscosmos confirmed Tuesday that one of the three computers in the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) was out of service because of a software problem.
"This will not affect the operations on board the orbital outpost because the standard cyclogram allows us to work only with two computers and to be able to fly for an indefinite period," he said. Roscosmos in a statement.
The agency also pointed out that it was not necessary to replace the computer, but it will be restarted before the arrival of the Progress space sent to the ISS.
"In order to ensure the security of the November berth with the Progress spacecraft, we will perform the restart on November 8, 2018," the statement said.
Last month, an accident occurred during the launch of a Soyuz-FG launcher carrying the Soyuz MS-10 probe with on board two new ISS crew members. Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin NASA astronaut Nick Hague safely returned to Earth in a leaked escape capsule.
The incident became the first failure of an inhabited space launch in the history of modern Russia. A special commission of the Russian space agency Roscosmos investigated this accident.
