The Salvation Army apologized after Hells Angels volunteers rang the bells brandishing several pieces of white supremacy on their clothes.
The Times of Northwest Indiana reports that members of the motorcycle club were spotted at a Walmart in Valparaiso, Indiana, this weekend, wearing patches including a Confederate flag and the word "Aryan".
The Salvation Army was "embarrassed" at being unable to "prevent this incident," said Lieutenant Christopher Nicolai of the Porter County Salvation Army.
He added that members of the Hells Angels area (northwestern Indiana) "would no longer be allowed to volunteer in the future".
"Our commitment to non-discrimination includes a dress code for bell ringers, who require that they wear a red Salvation Army apron and that specify" no "symbol, mark or lettering considered discrimination "can not be worn," said Nicolai statement provided to the Times.
"Clearly, the ringtones in question did not conform to this dress code."
A spokesman for Walmart told CBS Chicago that the volunteers were asked to leave as soon as the employees were informed of the offensive attire.
"We informed the Salvation Army and she apologized," the spokesman said in a statement. "The Salvation Army is responsible for selecting volunteers who are stationed outside of our stores. We have long supported the Salvation Army and we regret this isolated incident. "
Hells Angels did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment on the incident.
