The season of Doctor Who's Premier is presented on a single line that puts us in the lead

Warning! The following contains spoilers for the Doctor Who Season 11 premiere "The woman who fell on Earth." Read at your own risk!

The first episode of Doctor Who Season 11 is in the books, and the world has finally had the chance to attend the Doctor's first television adventure as a woman. We do all this "first television "Adventure" distinction because Jodie Whittaker's doctor said something very strange when she put her new wardrobe back in order, and it shook us a lot. What does this mean, if any, for the franchise?

It is true that the doctor could have bought women's clothes in the past for many reasons, but the most interesting and shocking reason would be that the doctor was a woman before. That's right, the new showrunner Chris Chibnall may not have just revealed the first female doctor on the screen, he may have also revealed that Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord did not show up. was not technically the only moment where femininity guided things. If it's true, it's a huge revelation that topples the Doctor Who and would naturally explain why it's been a long time since the doctor bought women's clothes.

Provided that the declaration is true, it opens the possibility of Doctor Who to introduce one or more female doctors who may have come before William Hartnell's race, which would also imply real theories that the doctor would have already found a way around the rule of twelve regenerations. Or, alternatively, during one of the eleven previous cycles of time lords, some form of science fiction magic has temporarily changed the sex of a doctor. There are probably other ways to introduce the concept.

For the series, this seems like an ideal way to call on a high-level actress to embody a former female doctor in an exceptional episode, as was the case for John Hurt's doctor. One thing that does not seem possible at the moment is that any female doctor has had complete cycles occurring between the reincarnations of the currently known Doctor. Especially considering Whittaker's estimate that it is a "long time" between two purchases of clothes.

Unfortunately, Jodie Whittaker did not follow this line with a wink at the camera and a promise that we would understand later in Doctor Who Season 11. This may be one of those statements that will spark debate and fan theory for years until the Doctor Who The team finally decides to stop torturing everyone by explaining it during a subsequent season. Until a real reason arrives, however, we can not really invest too much, not to form potentially more exciting or game-changing theories than anything we'll ever see in the series. .

After all, the doctor only said that it was a long time since she had not bought women's clothes, not that she's ever worn them. The Doctor has already provided clothes to her companions, so it's not crazy to think she's talking about clothes bought for one of them.

At the same time, if a female doctor existed well before this group of doctors, would not it make sense for the TARDIS to have a healthy wardrobe containing women's clothes somewhere? Also remember that the Doctor is an alien seemingly indifferent to traditional gender norms. Therefore, wearing women's clothing despite the physical appearance of a man would not be a strange thing.
