The rules have always been a bit more flexible in Mexican professional wrestling, but it was a brick too far.

The Puerto Rican star, Cuervo (The Raven) lost consciousness and reportedly had the skull fractured after being blinded by a violent blow carried to the back of the head during a match against Angel o Demonio at the show of Lucha Libre Boom.

Cuero stood on the ground outside the ring when his opponent threw the missile and sent him crashing face down.

The "death match" was immediately canceled. Angel o Demonio jumped out of the ring to check on his fallen rival, but a doctor ordered him to leave.

Cuervo was taken to the hospital where surgeons operated to remove a clot of blood. "It was an epidural hematoma and he had a fractured skull," said a promoter of the series. "He was operated on to drain the clot. He is out of danger, is in intensive care and responds satisfactorily. "

The director of Cuervo, Victor Arroyo, announced via his Facebook page that the wrestler was recovering well

"We are informed that the operation at Raven has been a success. The clot has been removed and is stable, "he wrote. "Thank you all for the prayers and the good atmosphere."

According to reports, a benefit show will take place this week in Mexico to help cover Cuervo's medical expenses.

Angelo Demonio said he was aiming at Cuervo's back but "did not have the precision".

"I apologize to the entire public because I am primarily a professional," he said.

But he was suspended indefinitely by the Boxing and Wrestling Commission of the State of Mexico and was widely condemned. Kurt Angle, WWE legend, wrote, "Give me 10 seconds with that stupid MFer who threw the brick. Should not be anywhere near the company. "
