A blowing snowstorm swept the Big Apple Thursday afternoon, making the evening shuttle a nightmare for drivers.
The weather bottled traffic in the city on Thursday night, with the state's 511 website indicating that traffic was slowed down or stopped in the city. Dozens of incidents have been reported and the Bayonne Bridge has been completely closed, according to the website.
Significant delays were reported on the George Washington Bridge Thursday night, following an accident earlier in the afternoon, the website said.
"The roads will become dangerous for evening trips. Go slowly and leave a lot of space between you and the car, " the national meteorological service tweeted.
No changes have been announced for public transportation at 5pm.
According to Weather Underground, about 2 cm of snow fell on Midtown, as workers began to return home for the evening.
According to the National Weather Service, the snow is expected to turn into a mix of slush at around 7 pm at the end of the evening.
The National Weather Service forecasts 2 to 4 inches of snowfall in New York.
