Iraqi social media star and model Tara Fares was shot dead in Baghdad, security officials told CNN.

The deaths of Fares and other recent killings prompted Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to order an investigation on Friday.

Former Miss Baghdad and first-ever finalist for Miss Iraq, was killed on Thursday after gunmen shot her in the Camp Sarah district of the capital, according to a statement by the Iraqi Interior Ministry, which is investigating about this incident.

Foreign Ministry spokesman General Saad Maan told an Iraqi television channel that two motorcyclists had shot Fares while she was inside a vehicle. .

A worrying trend, an ongoing investigation

Fares' death comes just two days after the murder of a human rights activist in the southern city of Basra.

Suaad al-Ali was shot dead in an open-air market by an unknown gunman, security sources said. Officials said the investigations were still ongoing.

And last month, two famous women from the Baghdad beauty industry also died.

Rafeef al-Yaseri, known as "Barbie of Iraq", was killed on August 16 in her home in Baghdad. Al-Yaseri was a plastic surgeon and organized national programs specializing in medical affairs for women.

A week later, Rasha al-Hassan, owner and director of the Viola Beauty Center in Baghdad, was found dead at home. Ministry of Health spokesman Seif al-Badr said at the time that Al-Hassan had died at his home, where preliminary investigations did not indicate any reason for his death.

Al-Abadi has ordered the Interior Ministry and the Iraqi Intelligence Department to investigate killings and kidnappings in Basra, Baghdad and elsewhere, the ministry said in a statement.
