Alan JacksonBen Selecman's son-in-law is dead. The 28-year-old was married to the singer's daughter, Mattie.
Selecman died Wednesday, Sept. 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was Deputy Attorney for Davidson County, Tennessee. The district attorney's office confirmed his death to Taste of Country, sending him a note that reads in part as follows:
"The District Attorney's Office is saddened to announce the death of Assistant DA Ben Selecman. family. He will be missed. "
Once contacted, representatives of Jackson record companies reported that they suffered serious head injuries as a result of a fall. Samuel Benton "Ben" Selecman is survived by his parents, Mark and Brenda, and a brother named Cole, as well as Cole's wife, Morgan.
Twenty-eight-year-old Mattie is Jackson's eldest daughter with his wife Denise. For the most part, they lived a private life, including private accounts on social networks, but his marriage with Selecman was largely covered by South Bride earlier this summer.
Over the years, Jackson has kept property in Florida. The next concerts of the country's icon had already been postponed due to Hurricane Florence. In August, the 59-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer ended three shows due to a respiratory infection. His next show is scheduled for September 21 in Omaha, Nebraska, and another for 2018 is scheduled for the next day in Arkansas.
A previous version of this story indicated that Selecman had died after a "boating accident". The Jackson record company claims that the incident resulted in a fall. This story has been updated to reflect the new information.
