Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, said Thursday at the New York Times DealBook conference that his 11-year-old son was running Ethereum on the family's PC.
The revelation occurred when Pichai was asked about how he, a relative living in Silicon Valley, thought about the time spent in front of a screen for his children. A recent New York Times article showed that parents living in Silicon Valley and working in the tech sector are often more concerned about screen time and technology addiction among their children.
"I guess I'm like all the other parents," Pichai said. "I test a lot of gadgets at home and therefore have vulnerabilities as to how my kids have access to things."
Pichai then stated that his 11-year-old son had exploited the Ethereum cryptocurrency.
"Last week, I was having dinner with my son and I was talking about something about Bitcoin." My son clarified that I was talking about Ethereum, which is slightly different, "explains Pichai. . "He is 11. And he said that he was exploiting it."
Google's chief executive was asked if he had a waiter at his home to help with his son's mining. He explained that his family had only a simple computer, but it was a computer that Pichai had built himself.

Pichai had to explain the monetary system of the nation to his son, anxious for cryptography.
"I had [to] no longer explain to him how the paper money works. I realized that he understood Ethereum better than paper money, Pichai said. I had to talk to him about the banking system and its importance. It was a good conversation. "
Pichai's 11-year-old son is not the only heir of a Google mine to exploit cryptocurrency.
At a conference organized by Sir Richard Branson in Morocco in July, Google co-founder Sergey Brin said that he and his son also operated Ethereum.
"A year or two ago, my son insisted we had to have a gaming PC," said Brin. "I told him" okay, if we get a gaming PC, we have to exploit the cryptocurrency. "So we installed a minor Ethereum there, and we won a few cents, a few dollars since. "
Thursday 's interview with Pichai took place as thousands of Google employees around the world left in protest against the company' s treatment of charges of sexual misconduct.
"This anger and frustration within the company – we all feel it," Pichai said about the protests. "I feel it too."
