A month after Emmy Rossum announced his release of "Shameless", another star follows his example
Cameron Monaghan, who has played Ian Gallagher since "Shameless" debuted in 2011, leaving the showtime series midway through its ninth season. The 25-year-old actor, whose latest episode will air on Sunday, Oct. 14, announced this official announcement on Instagram Monday, a week after a promo had apparently teased his departure.
"All good things come to an end, an old cliché, but that sounds fair with sincerity and clarity, especially in moments like these, all ends," wrote Monaghan in a long post. "The next episode will be my last."

The actor, who also starred in Batman's pre-series series on Fox, "Gotham," revealed that his decision to leave had been taken a long time ago.
"I know it since last year, but I did not want to reveal it too early because I wanted this season to be a surprise for the public, allowing him to live the uncertain journey of Ian with his character," said Monaghan. "This role has been a joy to live, a crazy and special adventure, and I would like to thank #Shameless and you, the viewers, for your presence at his side."

Monaghan's departure follows Rossum's surprise announcement that she would leave "Shameless" after a series of nine seasons alongside the Gallagher elder, Fiona.
