Why should the Jedi Masters have fun in Star Wars?
New animated series of Disney Resistance to Star Wars will show the flying skills and personality of the pilots instead of the usual Jedi and Sith characters that fans know best.
The mechanics of the new series, known collectively as Team fireballhave already been introduced. Now, thanks to a video released Friday on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, we have a better overview of the team of elite pilots known as Aces.
The Aces are composed of five pilots who wear colorful outfits and are paired with droids. They protect the Colossus, a massive supply platform on an outer oceanic planet.
But when there is no danger, Aces like to participate in action packed races to have fun and make a profit. They have competitions to see who is fastest, and often face new competitors who make a stop at Colossus.
Meet the Ace. Hype Fazon (Donald Faison) is a thrilling Rodian, while Freya Fenris (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) is a strong and disciplined pilot.
Griff Halloran (Stephen Stanton) is an ex-fighter ex-Imperial TIE grumpy fighter, and Bo Keevil is the encrypted and reserved cascade driver of the team. Torra Doza (Myrna Velasco) is a light girl who is eager to make friends while she impresses everyone with her driving skills.
"It's about drivers, racing, espionage – it's like anything you've ever wanted in a Star Wars TV show," says Faison in the video.
The first one hour series of Star Wars Resistance will air on Oct. 7 at 10 pm. ET / PT on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW, with more shows on Disney XD. Two more new episodes will be available on the DisneyNOW and Disney Channel VOD app.
