A Division III basketball player is now indefinitely suspended and banned from campus after hitting an opponent with a vicious bend in a match played Tuesday night.
Late in a defeat at Nichols College, Kewan Platt of Fitchburg State hit Nate Tenaglia with a straight nudge while shooting at 3 pointers. In the video posted on social media, Tenaglia, who made the shot, falls to the ground after being hit.
The video broadcast on social media makes sure that the game seems to continue without impact. However, according to those present, Platt was expelled after committing a technical foul earlier in the match between Massachusetts schools.
"The Fitchburg State community is shocked by the conduct displayed during the Tuesday night home basketball game," said Fitchburg State Sports Director Matthew Burke in a statement. Nichols College, in its own statement, said that Tenaglia was going well after the incident.

According to Nichols spokesperson, Pete Divito, Tenaglia kept Platt throughout the match, frustrating his defense. After the incident, Tenaglia ended the match after the tests for a concussion were negative.
Divito said that school officials were happy that Tenaglia was in good health and relieved "most of the team members did not see him" due to concerns about a possible altercation.

Platt's name was removed from the Fitchburg State Basketball Program website. MASCAC, the league of the school, has recently awarded him the player of the week title. But the league has left this honor.
