The Superman CW gets a black suit for the crossover

DC movies have taken so long to simply hint by giving Superman his infamous black comic suit, now the subject of television.

Stephen Amell unveiled our first look at Tyler Hoechlin in Superman costume, judging by the fact that the actor is surrounded by both Amell and Grant Gustin, at the upcoming CW / DC crossover event. Other worlds, which will bring both Batwoman and Gotham City to the Arrowverse (as well as Lois Lane, an inclusion that makes a little more sense now). And it's not just a new version of Superman's costume, but more specifically a black version:

Of course, the black suit has huge connotations in the field of comics. When Superman perished after a battle with Doomsday in the iconic The death and the return of Superman saga, his resurrection came with both an incredible mule of the 90s and, for a brief moment, a costume without a hood and entirely black. Recently, Superman again briefly donned the comic book combination when the pre-New-52 version of the character was brought into continuity, but the coloring is usually a herald of Superman's brief time struggling with mortality.

CW's costume is a bit different, retaining the cloak of Hoechlin's usual Superman outfit while giving it a truly essential collar. It's pretty solid, but the questions it raises are much more interesting than the costume itself. Does this confirm that Gotham City is on another land different from Barry and Ollie? and Kara? Has this Superman ever gone through his own battle with Doomsday? Can Kara take pictures and send her to her cousin on Earth-38th and recommend an upgrade?

We will know later this year, when Other worlds begins on December 9th.
