The King arrived in time for the Thanksgiving weekend. Disney debuted with the first trailer for his next Lion King remake of director Jon Favreau.
Donald Glover directs the cast as a young Lion Simba who loses his father, then Beyonce – who is credited in the trailer for her last name, Knowles-Carter – expresses Nala, a childhood friend and later a love interest for Simba. The cast includes James Earl Jones resuming his role of the 1994 animated film as Simba's father, Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor in the role of the villainous uncle Scar, of Simba, Alfre Woodard in the mother of Simba, Sarabi, with the actor JD McCrary playing the role of Simba. Shahadi Wright Joseph expresses the young Nala, while John Kani interprets the baboon Rafiki and John Oliver playing Mufasa's confidant, the Zazu hornbill.
Favreau showed for the first time images of The Lion King Last summer at the D23, which included photorealistic landscapes and Rafiki introducing baby Simba on Pride Rock.
The Lion King is just one of many Disney remakes, including Lady with the tramp for his streaming service Disney + and Tim Burton's DumboOn March 29, 2019, Favreau was a resounding success with his remake of The jungle Book, which brought in $ 966 million globally.
The original Lion King has brought in more than $ 968 million worldwide and presented memorable songs from Elton John and Tim Rice. Favreau Lion King must open on July 19, 2019.
