The Trump administration asks the Supreme Court to speed up the treatment of the president's decision prevent some transgender people from serving in the military.
The administration asked Friday in court to consider three cases on this subject. The lower courts had prevented the administration from enforcing the policy.
A panel of three judges from the US Circuit's 9th Circuit Court of Appeal heard arguments from one of the cases in October but did not rule.
The administration had warned that she would ask the High Court to intervene if the appeal court did not rule until Friday. The government wants the Supreme Court to rule on the issue before the summer.
Judges generally do not take cases until the federal appeal courts decide them.
