The University of California at Irvine announced Tuesday that it has received a $ 14.7 million grant over five years from the US Department of Education.
This is the largest grant UC Irvine has received for this program. This funding will contribute to the expansion of the university's Pathway to Academic Success project, which will fill the gap in reading and writing for students in Grades 7 to 11.
UC Irvine's program, created by Professor Carol Booth Olson, was one of three projects to benefit from the Education Innovation Expansion and Research Grant this year. The other two recipients were the Waterford Institute of Sandy, Utah, and the WestEd of San Francisco, California.
