A Boston labor union has announced it has reached an agreement with Marriott on new contracts with hotel workers, ending a 46-day strike.
UNITE HERE Local 26 Announcement that the official contract was ratified late Saturday afternoon.
"This victory demonstrates the strength and tenacity of our members," said Local 26 President Brian Lang.
This comes after the union said it reached an agreement in principle with Marriott on Friday night.
A Marriott representative confirmed the existence of the agreement in principle Saturday morning.
Local 26 said it was the longest and largest strike of hotel workers in Boston's history.
More than 1,500 hotel workers in Boston had been on strike for several months, seeking better wages and benefits that they believed would allow them to live in the city.
The union said it called for a strike in September after Marriott failed to respond to workers' demands, despite months of negotiations.
The Boston City Council voted unanimously to pass a resolution in favor of striking workers on October 17th.
A Marriott spokeswoman said the company was eager to welcome its associates into their work a few days ago.
Local 26 said the details of the deal would be split after more than 5,000 striking Marriott workers in San Francisco and Hawaii reached agreements and ended their strikes.
Strikes at the Marriott hotels in San Diego, San Jose, Oakland and Detroit have resulted in ratifications.
