Bob Evans Farms recalls Sausage chains of 46,734 pounds, as they can contain "foreign materials", including hard plastic, announced Thursday the US Department of Agriculture.
The Ohio sausage maker has identified five varieties of its products with the potential problem and asks consumers to discard them or return them to their local retailer. The articles were distributed in New York, New Jersey and 10 other states.
"The problem was discovered when the establishment received consumer complaints about foreign materials in pork sausages," said the USDA announcement.
"There has been no confirmed report of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products," said the agency. "Anyone affected by an injury or illness should contact a health care provider."

The recalled sausage packs were produced on August 1st and bear the establishment number "EST. 6785 ".
The recalled products are:
• Maple pork sausage links with an expiry date of October 16th or October 19th and a lot code of 8213.
• Bob Evans Sugar & Honey Brown with an expiry date of October 16th and a lot code of 8213.
• Sausage sausages flavored with Meijer maple, to be used according to the dates of September 6 and a lot code of 8213.
• Geagle Eagle-Pork Eagle Pork Breakfast Sausage Ties with September 10th Use Dates and 8213 Batch Code.
• Breakfast sausage with Schnucks Maple recipe, with a lot code of 8213. No expiry date has been indicated for this product.
All recalled products are in 12 ounce packs.
