Health officials in New Mexico have urged spa clients to provide services such as "vampire facials" to get screened for blood-borne infections such as HIV or AIDS. # 39; hepatitis.

According to one A statement from the New Mexico Department of Health, the VIP spa in Albuquerque was closed after health officials discovered that the practices identified at the spa could transmit the disease to clients.

The inspection was carried out after a spa client had developed an infection whose officials believe stemmed from a spa treatment.

Officials speak to people who have had injection services at the spa, including vampire facials, where a person's blood is isolated to get a platelet-rich plasma, then injected into the skin by microneedling.

Anyone who received such treatment in May or June of this year is invited to visit the New Mexico Department of Health for free and confidential testing.

According to KOAT-TV of Albuquerque, the spa's owner, Luly Ruiz, said that she only used disposable needles.

"I open them in front of my clients every time they come," said Ruiz, who told the station that she was cooperating with the health authorities.
