Pittsburgh Steelers forward Le'Veon Bell said on Monday that he intends to play football this season.
Le'Veon Bell has been a stumbling block since his refusal to show up at training camp in July, but reports from Pittsburgh on Monday indicate that All-Pro running back plans to return to the Steelers in Week 7 of the team.
It may not be early enough to help the Steelers save their season. Pittsburgh fell to 1-2-1 after a 26-14 home defeat on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens, tied with the Cleveland Browns for North AFC's last place.
Without Bell, the Steelers drew 21-21 against the Browns in their opening game. They then lost 42-37 to the Kansas City Chiefs in their first home game and finally got a 30-27 win in Tampa Bay. in week 3.
The game being run has been at best inconsistent. Second-year scoring midfielder James Connor entered the beginner category and nearly topped 144 yards in the first half of the rookie season, scoring 135 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries.
Since then, Connor has totaled 32 runs and 97 yards with a score in the last three weeks.
Connor also has 18 receptions for 164 yards.
In front of the Ravens, Connor was caught 19 yards in nine attempts and caught three passes for 25 yards.
Bell told ESPN.com he was ready to play today.
"It's bad to have to sit down at football. I want to play. I want to win games and playoffs. But I have to take this position. Knowing my merits and knowing that I could tear a ligament or operate at any time, I knew I could not play 16 games with 400 or more hits. "
Pittsburgh continues to receive commercial offers for Bell. It would have been announced to Bell that he would be marked with the transition during the next season, which would allow the Pro double player to talk with other teams while Pittsburgh kept his rights.

His 406 touchdowns led the NFL and have been the league's biggest since DeMarco Murray scored 449 touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys in 2014.
In five seasons, Bell – a Michigan State second round pick in 2013 – has 5,336 rushing yards and 312 catches for 2,660 yards, scoring 35 touchdowns and seven catches.
He was ranked # 5 in the NFL Network's annual ranking of the league's top 100 players this season, up four places from No. 9 in 2017.
