Although these figures are solid in the current climate, they have dropped considerably compared to the 11.4 million viewers who listened to the premiere of The Walking Dead Season 8 a year ago.

What's more, the first of last season had a score of 5.0, which means it dropped 50% in the adult demo year after year.

It's a disturbing drop, but the 2.5 rating is still the most-rated start of the season's cable series in the demo.

Season 9 of Walking Dead is losing Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan. This is not a good start, as some fans usually disagree once their favorite character is gone.

The real test of the show will be whether it holds up during the season or whether it continues to lose viewers every week.

There have been some driving changes for the ninth season of The Walking Dead: Angela Kang is promoted to Executive Producer.

The Walking Dead Season 9 The episode 1 began 18 months after the events of The Walking Dead Season 8, but there was still a clear division between the characters.
