Mac Miller was praised for having a "great soul" and being one of the "friendliest dudes" of celebrity friends who knew him after the speech aired on Friday about the rapper's 26-year-old death.

The Miller family confirmed the news in a Rolling Stone statement: "Malcolm McCormick, known and loved by fans like Mac Miller, died tragically at the age of 26".

"He was a bright light in this world for his family, his friends and his fans," the statement said. "Thank you for your prayers, please respect our privacy.There are no other details as to the cause of his death at this time."

Miller died of an apparent overdose in his California home, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing sources. The rapper's friends called the news "unreal" and shared their condolences with his family.

Chance the Rapper said he was speechless after learning of Miller's death and once recalled that the young rapper had basically taken him under his wing.

"I do not know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour. But beyond helping me start my career, he was one of the most adorable guys I knew. Big man. I liked it for real. I am completely broken. God bless him," the rapper born in Chicago tweeted.

Chance reminded fans to tell your loved ones that you love them.

A few hours after being involved in a serious car accident in California, the singer of "Rockstar" Post Malone took the time to mourn the loss of his friend.

"You were an incredible person. You have changed so many lives. Have so much love in your heart. You have inspired me throughout high school and I would not be where I was today without you. Never a person more kind and sincere and beautiful. I like you very much mac » he shared online.

Singer Shawn Mendes called Miller's death "so sad."

Catfish star Nev Schulman recalled meeting Miller in 2012.

"Super sweet guy. So many lives lost because of mental health and addiction. Please ask for help if you or someone you know is struggling. There are people here for you » he tweeted.

Andrew Taggart and EDM-pop duo Alex Pall acknowledged that they had never met Miller but that they were huge fans of his music.

"Late Late Show" James Corden accepted, saying he was still a big fan of Miller's mind.

Wiz Khalifa sent greetings to Miller's family.

"I love you my brother," he tweeted, with a picture of him and Miller shaking hands behind the scenes.

J. Cole wished Miller peace and called it a "great soul".
