The Yankees added an intriguing starting depth on Monday, saying that right-hander Parker Bridwell had been overruled by the Los Angeles Angels.
Although on the list of minor leagues with disabilities for much of 2018 due to an inflammation of the right elbow, Bridwell was impressive with a record of 10-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 21 games, 20 departures, as a rookie for the 2017 Angels.

So, depending on what the Yankees do for the rest of the off season, Bridwell, 27, will show up for spring training in February to compete for a place in the rotation or a long succession position. Whatever it is, it will probably be an option to start next season.
This addition is done at the expense of a popular utility network player, Ronald Torreyes, who has been designated to be assigned to the release of a forty-man station for Bridwell.
The Yankees have seven days to get rid of the Torreyes contract. It can be exchanged or irrevocably waived next week.
Torreyes, 26, was a popular and productive infielder in his three seasons with the Yankees.
His short, third and second baseline alignment was solid. The Venezuelan 5-foot-8 also proved that he could hit the throws of the major leagues, since he is a .281 hitter.
He was loved by his teammates and a fan favorite too.
Still, Torreyes spent half of the 2018 season among the miners, in part because the Yankees often went with a throwing team of 13 people.
Torreyes averaged .280 with seven RBIs in 418 in 2018, after beating .292 with three homers and 36 RBIs in 108 games in 2017.
A 6-foot-4, 185-pound Texan, Bridwell was 1-0 with a silver medal of 17.55 last season for the Angels five times, including one as a starter. He was also 1-1 with an ERA of 8.68 in six starts for Triple-A Salt Lake.
Bridwell was selected by the Orioles in 2010 (ninth round) and made his Baltimore league debut in 2016 (2 games, 3.1 IP, 5 ER). Baltimore traded to the Angels against a player to name or exchange money on April 17, 2017.
Bridwell is the third starting pitcher in the Yankees' lineup so far, as he signed a contract with left-lane Sab Sabia on Nov. 7 and acquired southpaw James Paxton of the Seattle Mariners. November 19 for three minor defenders. .
