The Yankees did not ease things, but they survived

A day after their hopes of officially winning the AL East were wiped out, the Yankees have taken a step closer to the next best thing: hosting the wild-card game.

It was hardly without an unexpected drama, however, while the dolphins failed in the last innings against the Orioles, who came closer in the eighth before the Yankees kept a 10-8 win over the worst team baseball.

If the Yankees want to keep athletics for first place, they will have to continue to feast against Baltimore, but they nearly broke their mouths, Jonathan Loaisiga and A.J. Cole had each brutal outing – like David Robertson.

Dellin Betances, the seventh pitcher of the Yankees of the evening, finished the race with a ninth goalless.

But Robertson came out of the heat and Aaron Judge clinched a single bottom-run score for a two-run match before Betances finished with his fourth save.

The victory allowed the Yankees to reduce their magic points to win a playoff spot for two, with the Rays also winning on Friday.

Still, it was hardly an overwhelming performance.

"We have been able to survive," said Boone.

The Yankees have two more games against the Orioles at the Stadium before visiting the Rays in St. Petersburg, Fla., For four games, and then finish the regular season with three games against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

It remains to be seen how Boston will handle this series, but the Yankees have a number of goals to be reached during the last week of the year.

Boone said he was confident that there was room between Game 162 and Game 162 for the Yankees to recover.
