Kepler Space Telescope

Kepler is a space observatory launched by NASA in 2009, designed to search for exoplanets the size of the Earth. Named after mathematician and astrologer Johannes Kepler, this mission revolutionized our understanding of planets outside our solar system. To date, more than 2,300 confirmed exoplanets have been identified, while thousands of potential candidates have been discovered. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human being in history to set foot on the surface of the moon, or anywhere else, in what was arguably the greatest achievement in the history of the American space program. Ten Apollo missions, testing various aspects of the operation, were conducted before Apollo 11 finally reached the moon. In 1975, the Viking program launched two spacecraft, which became the first to land and operate successfully on the surface of Mars. Each spacecraft was composed of two main parts: an orbiter designed to photograph the planet from an orbit and a lander exploring the surface. The X-ray Observatory Chandra is the most powerful X-ray telescope with a sensitivity 25 times greater than that of its closest rival.
