WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN – Your $ 6,000 transportation alternative to the upcoming L-train stop is a bike with a cockpit and a bamboo bin for your baby.
The Electric Supermarket goes to Brooklyn's bike shops just in time for one of Williamsburg's biggest upheavals in terms of public transit. It is as reasonable a solution as the many other solutions proposed by the MTA.
The manufacturers claim that the bike, worth $ 5999, will allow you to carry 300 pounds of merchandise along the Williamsburg Bridge without becoming a wasteful of sweat for the job. They do not say what other cyclists will feel if you take a small bike the size of a car on the bridge.
The bike comes with a variety of features that you will not find in the crowded J train that you will be forced to take during the 15 months of closing the Canarsie Tunnel.
These features include a loaded Bosch engine, LED lights, hydraulic disc brakes as well as a bench and awning for kids.
The electric supermarket, offered by California-based Yuba Bikes, is available at 718 Cyclery at Park Slope, Bicycle Habitat at Prospect Heights and Propel on Flushing Avenue near the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
