1. Low carb diet:
As its name suggests, a low carb diet limits the type and amount of carbohydrates you consume. Carbohydrates are macro-nutrients that provide calories that are found in many foods and beverages. A low carbohydrate diet limits the carbohydrates found in whole grains, starchy vegetables and fresh fruits, and focuses on foods high in protein and healthy fats. Low carb diets can have several health benefits, such as weight loss, reducing the risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Legumes, nuts, whole grains, fruits and starchy vegetables are common sources of carbohydrates. The basic motivation for a low-carb diet, specifically designed for diabetic patients, is that lowering the amount of carbohydrates can lower insulin levels, forcing the body to burn the stored fat to get energy and ultimately to lose weight. Therefore, you should include non-starchy vegetables such as cauliflower, spinach, eggplant, broccoli and other leafy vegetables in your diet. You should aim for a high fiber diet with lots of fruits and salads.

2. Limit refined sugars:
In general, people with high blood sugar should reduce "free sugar" in packaged foods, sweet products such as cakes, donuts and pastries, as well as soft drinks. This includes any added or "hidden" sugar and "natural" sugars from honey, corn syrups and fruit juices. Added sugar is the sugar that we add to our food and beverages. This also includes the natural sugar that we incorporate into our tea or coffee. Also, you should avoid the powdered sugar that we add to our cooking. However, most of the sugar we eat is "hidden" because food manufacturers incorporate it into much of the food and beverages we buy. For better health, you should opt for healthier alternatives instead of normal white sugar. You can use jaggery, maple syrup or even brown sugar. Although moderation is the key even when we use these healthy options.
2. Maintain a healthy weight:
Your body is designed to move. Regular physical exercise is important at all stages of life. A form of physical exercise such as walking, running, aerobics or even yoga can be beneficial for general health and especially for diabetic patients. People with high blood sugar levels usually need to monitor their weight permanently. Regular exercise can help reduce the dose of medication in diabetics.
