The TJHD is encouraging people to get their flu shots.
It is hosting clinics every day for the rest of the year.
Flu season is quickly approaching, so the Thomas Jefferson Health District is setting aside special clinic days for people to get vaccinated.
Starting Thursday afternoon, it will take a walk-in patient for anyone who wants to get ahead of the virus. The clinic will be dedicating every day for the rest of the year to providing vaccines and encouraging people to get their shot.
People can walk in, fill out paperwork, and get their vaccine in less than two minutes. The department asks for their health insurance card, but it is not going away anyone who does not have it.
The clinics will be available in Charlottesville and Albemarle County as well as Louisa, Fluvanna, Nelson and Greene Counties.
Staff at the clinic said it is important to take these steps forward.
"It's early to tell us what it's going to be like this year, but we know that it's already out there," said Kathryn Goodman of TJHD.
The shot takes about two weeks to take effect.
The walk-in clinics dedicated to flu vaccines will last from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on every Thursday. Next Thursday evening, they will be hosting a free clinic in Greene County.
