Tens of thousands of people gathered Sunday in 15 states of Brazil to support Jair Bolsonaro, leader of the right in the second round of the presidential election.

Bolsonaro won the first round of voting on Oct. 7, and polls put him ahead of left-wing Labor party candidate Fernando Haddad at the polls on Oct. 28.

In Rio de Janeiro, thousands of people marched along Copacabana beach, wearing yellow t-shirts of the Brazilian National Football Team, waving Brazilian flags and chanting: "The Workers Party, clears "

"People are fed up with so many robberies and the division created by the left between whites and blacks, gay and straight," said Andre Amarol, a Bolsonaro sympathizer.

"We trust Bolsonaro because he's an honest family man," added Amarol.

Bolsonaro, who angered many Brazilians by praising the country's military dictatorship in 1964-1985 and insulting gay, female and black commentaries, won 46 percent of the vote in the presidential election of 7 October 50 percent to avoid runoff. Haddad finished second with 29%, which earned him the other place in the second round.

The rallies for Bolsonaro took place one day after thousands of people took to the streets to protest against his candidacy. They shouted "Not him", which became the rallying cry against the former captain of the army.
