INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The Indianapolis Power and Light teams and Duke Energy were back on Sunday morning to restore power to customers in central Indiana.
IPL has confirmed around 37,000 customers without electricity Saturday due to winds of 40 to 50 mph. At 9 am Sunday, they reported just under 15,000 customers still in the dark.
Most IPL outages have involved pockets of less than 500 customers spread throughout Marion County.
Security is our priority. Crews face many tree damage as many mature trees fell on IPL equipment. We call on mutual assistance teams. Restoration efforts will continue around 24 hours Monday.

Meteorologist Lindsey Monroe reported wind gusts of up to 63 mph at Lafayette. Duke Energy reported more than 5,000 customers without electricity in Tippecanoe County on Sunday morning.
In total, Duke said more than 11,000 customers without electricity on Sunday morning. Their website estimated the restoration by noon Sunday.
The teams are working as quickly as possible to restore power.
Many cases of trees and power lines were reported Saturday night, as well as streetlights.
