Police arrested a man suspected of harassing and threatened to assault a GOP black campaign agent at an advance polling site in Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon, according to CBS affiliate WBTV. Charlotte.
The incident occurred around 14:30. in a polling station located in the 11000 block of South Tryon Street, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Police officers arrived in response to the threat that an armed man threatened a campaign staff member at a polling place.
According to officials, a black man said that he was working on the polling place when he saw the gunman in the parking lot with a camera taking pictures or d & # 39; record the polling place. Police said he had approached the campaign worker and had started launching racial slurs, according to a CMPD report.
The campaigner stated that the gunman threatened to attack him before lifting his shirt and displaying a handgun in a holster on his belt. He told the police that the gunman had never assaulted him or tried to pull the handgun out of his holster.
Jason Donald Wayne, 28, was arrested around 9:15 pm. The police said he was carrying a BB gun in a holster that was found and seized as evidence. Police said Wayne was accused of being armed until the terror of the people, ethnic intimidation, threats and disorderly behavior.

Police said that two other people were with the man. They were identified but were not charged after the agents determined that they had not broken any laws.
